Several Center students are working internationally to expand applications of common techniques used in carbon footprinting. Specifically, Audrey Alexander is working to forecast the footprint for the International Arctic Science Committee 2020 Arctic Science Summit Week through an internship with our Iceland partners. They hope to be able to become a carbon neutral conference by using carbon footprint forecasting to advise planning decisions. James Graham used a calculator and completed an internship with the University of Akureyri, Iceland on their carbon footprint. The University has the hopes of becoming the first carbon neutral university. CHNGES faculty, staff, and students also regularly work with the WKU Office of Sustainability to determine the annual carbon footprint for the University and develop educational resources to share these data meaningfully to members of the WKU community.
